Are you Registered, currently?

Most readers of this blog are likely to be registered voters. Or, at least you think you are registered to vote, right?

While I long for the day when we hold elections and people can just walk into vote, we currently require that you “register” to vote in Texas. Unlike many states, this does NOT mean you have to affiliate with a party or identify yourself in some way. It does NOT mean you will be called to Jury Duty. I just can’t tell you how many times I have been told by people that they don’t register to vote because they will get called for Jury Duty. Wrong! If you have a Texas Driver’s License or ID card, you are automatically entered into the system for selection as a potential juror.

To register in Texas takes very little effort. Click here to register. However, you must do this prior to OCTOBER 9!

What’s that? You’re already registered you say? Well, just take a couple of minutes and double-check, please. Click here to confirm your voter registration is current and your right to vote is in tact. It just takes a minute to confirm.

Yesterday was National Voter Registration Day. I was so excited to see my Twitter feed filled with famous people encouraging folks to register and my Facebook feed filled with people encouraging registration.

There are few things more sacred than our right to vote. It is what sets us apart as a democracy. “We the people” select our leaders.

Register, confirm your registration and be prepared to vote in the upcoming elections.

NO EXCUSES!
