State Comptroller Identifies Billions in Found Revenues

The State Comptroller announced today that she identified billions of dollars in new monies. The money was located in a hidden account that had been set up in the 1800’s and accruing interest over the years. The fund is now worth approximately $30 billion dollars. Additionally, gold bars were found and these are worth an extra $20 billion dollars.

Comptroller Combs is presenting this information today to the State Legislature as State Representatives debate trimming an already tight budget.

Across the state, Mayors, School Board Members, and citizens are rejoicing! “We aren’t broke!”, they have been heard to exclaim.

Now the Legislature must decide if they will use this new found money to resolve the State’s budget challenges.

Thus, the real debate begins over what Texans really want funded and what they do not. Will we shore up our already challenged school systems? Will we build more roads? Will we strengthen Medicaid and save nursing home residents? Will we build more prisons?

With the money to address our needs, the needs debate moves to another level. What do we really want the government to fund? The philosophies on government responsibility vary greatly.

By the way, April Fool’s!
