Don’t Forget City Election Day

In the midst of Holiday buzz and craziness, we still must select four new leaders for Houston. City Council Districts A and B and At-Large Positions 2 and 5 are in run-offs.

Folks, these are important races. I voted this a.m. Had the place all to myself, too. Was in and out in less than 5 minutes. Tomorrow is the last day of early voting. Otherwise, amidst your parties and shopping, you will need to vote on Saturday, December 10.

Here are the races:

District A: Incumbent Brenda Stardig is facing Helena Brown. Ms. Brown led Ms. Stardig into the run-off.

District B: Incumbent Jarvis Johnson was term-limited. His staff member, Alvin Byrd, is in the run-off along with Jerry Davis.

At-Large 2 – Incumbent Sue Lovell was term-limited. A large field of candidates sought election to this position but Kristi Thibault is in a run-off with perennial candidate, Andrew Burks.

At-Large 5 – Incumbent Jolanda Jones faces Jack Christie in a rematch of their 2009 run-off.

Read up on these candidates and cast your ballots. They will compose ¼ of the new 16 member City Council.

If you want your pot holes fixed, your opinion heard on local regulation, you’re concerned about infrastructure, now is the time to speak and select new leaders for your city.
