Romney Spends His Way to the Lead

It is looking more and more like Mitt Romney will be the Republican Presidential nominee. As I’ve stated before, I think this will make for a very boring general election.

However, the one thing Romney has done to garner the lead is spend money – millions and millions of dollars. He and his Super Pac committees outspent Rick Santorum in Illinois by a margin of 21 to 1. That, my friends, is a significant difference.

Presumably, he will slow his spending once he secures the delegates needed to shore up the nomination and will restock for the general election.

Of concern for the Obama campaign is how much money has already been invested in Romney. These folks are not going to stop funding him after investing as much as they have.

The general election may turn into a battle of the 1%. Who has the most millionaire friends to invest in their campaigns and Super Pacs. The Super Pacs will run most of the negative campaigning and you can count on it being brutal from both sides.

Here’s the good news: Super Pac’s can’t vote, at least not yet. Only people, human beings can vote. And people can vote their own choice.

My recommendation is to truly study the candidates. Begin your homework on Mitt Romney now and review Obama’s first term closely. Tune out the rhetoric, the campaign ads and pick the candidate that you think is the best person to lead America.

Now there is a novel concept!
